Kathmandu: National Assembly Chair Narayan Prasad Dahal has urged the government to respond within seven days to issues raised by Members of Parliament during the emergency, zero, and special hour of the Upper House. In today’s Assembly meeting, Chair Dahal emphasized the need for effective implementation of the National Assembly Rules, 2015.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the National Assembly rules stipulate that delegated legislation and public policies approved by the government should be provided to the Assembly for distribution to parliamentarians within 15 days of approval from the relevant body. This requirement ensures transparency and accountability between the branches of government.
In addition to Chair Dahal’s remarks, Secretary of the National Assembly, Dr. Surendra Aryal, presented a message from the House of Representatives. The message pertained to the ‘Prevention of Corruption (First Amendment) Bill, 2076’ and the ‘E-Commerce Bill, 2080’, which had been sent to the House of Representatives with the message passed by the National Assembly.
Furthering the legislative agenda, Chairman of the Legislative Management Committee Tulasa Kumari Dahal presented the committee’s report on the ‘Nepal Bar Council (Second Amendment) Bill, 2081’ to the House, signifying continued legislative activity and oversight.
The National Assembly is scheduled to reconvene on March 2 at 12:15 pm, where further discussions and deliberations are expected to take place.
