KU Implements Credit Transfer System for Students from Foreign Universities

Kathmandu: The Kathmandu University (KU) is set to implement a ‘credit transfer’ system for students from various foreign universities, enabling them to complete their remaining semesters at KU. This decision was made with the aim of easing the academic journey for students who have passed their semesters abroad but face challenges in continuing their studies.

According to National News Agency Nepal, Acting Vice-Chancellor of KU, Prof Dr Achyut Wagle, announced the initiative following discussions between university officials and affected students. The move is expected to provide relief to students by allowing them to continue their education at KU after presenting evidence of their academic achievements abroad.

Prof Dr Wagle highlighted that the transferred students would be able to complete their degrees at Kathmandu University. He emphasized that the university is focusing on facilitating students who wish to transfer their courses, including arrangements for examinations for those who have completed studies at different institutions. Although KU currently lacks a formal agreement with KiIT University in Odisha, Prof Dr Wagle stressed the importance of addressing this issue through diplomatic and academic discussions.

Shyam Sundar Khadka, associate dean of the KU School of Engineering, confirmed that the policy framework is in place to support these students. He assured that necessary arrangements will be made to allow students to sit for their exams at KU, ensuring a smooth transition for those completing courses at other universities.
