Legal Practitioners Are Defenders of Democracy and Rule of Law: President


Kathmandu: President Ramchandra Paudel has emphasized the pivotal role of legal practitioners as defenders of democracy and the rule of law. At a function organized today to commemorate the 32nd Council Day and Self-Assessment Day-2082 of the Nepal Bar Council, President Paudel highlighted the critical function of legal professionals in addressing irregularities and injustices within a democratic governance system through the correct implementation of the law.



According to National News Agency Nepal, President Paudel underscored that democracy is the cornerstone of a just society and affirmed that legal practitioners, irrespective of their nationality, are protectors of the rule of law and democracy. He acknowledged the significant contributions made by legal practitioners in the establishment and restoration of democracy in Nepal and expressed confidence in their continued effective role in its strengthening. The President also conveyed his trust that the Council would diligently fulfill its responsibility of producing legal professionals with high competence and ethics, upholding the sector’s values.



In a separate event marking International Youth Day 2025, President Paudel addressed the youth, emphasizing their role in building a prosperous Nepal. He noted that the youth of his generation were instrumental in establishing a federal democratic republic in the country and praised Nepali youth for excelling in various fields such as technology-based innovation, sports, entertainment, and information technology. He called for collective efforts to harness this potential towards national rebuilding.



President Paudel outlined the government’s commitment to facilitating concessional loans, creating a youth-friendly investment environment, and expanding innovation and entrepreneurship opportunities. He highlighted the importance of entrepreneurship as the basis of economic development and stressed the need for policies and programs that promote entrepreneurship and generate employment for the youth.



International Youth Day, according to President Paudel, is a celebration of youth participation and empowerment, emphasizing sustainable development and unity through participation from local to international levels. The event also featured speeches from Minister for Youth and Sports Tejulal Chaudhary, Executive Vice-Chair of the National Youth Council Surendra Basnet, and the United Nations Resident Coordinator in Nepal, Hanna Singer.
