Kathmandu: The Kathmandu Metropolitan City has initiated the process of revoking licenses for institutional schools that are registered but not operational. This move is part of a broader effort to enhance the educational framework within the city.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the local government has decided to repeal licenses for inactive schools following a comprehensive monitoring and evaluation process. Deputy Mayor Sunita Dangol disclosed that some alternative schools, including Mahila Jyoti and James Namuna, have been granted permission to move to new locations to continue their operations. Additionally, 25 schools have been approved for name changes as part of the local government’s recent decisions.
In a significant step towards improving community schools, a task force led by Dr. Suraj Raj Kafley has been established. This task force is responsible for developing and implementing recommendations that focus on school operation standards, social and resource mapping, physical infrastructure, educational quality, and long-term education planning. The task force is expected to submit a detailed report to the local government, offering strategic insights for the betterment of school systems within the metropolis.
