Kodari Highway Reopens for Traffic After Landslide Clearance

Kathmandu: The Kodari road section along the Araniko Highway, previously blocked by a landslide, has resumed operations, according to the Ministry of Physical Infrastructures and Transport.

According to National News Agency Nepal, the landslide occurred near the Kodari, Tatopani border point linking Nepal to China. Efforts are underway to prevent future landslides at the site based on a new design, as shared by Director General of the Department of Roads, Dr. Bijay Jaisi. The landslide had posed a risk to a nearby human settlement, prompting the deployment of a technical team from Road Division Charikot to clear the debris.

A team of experts is conducting studies to find a long-term solution to the landslide issues in the area, as stated by the Department. Initially, small and light vehicles began operating, with larger vehicles resuming their services from this afternoon, as shared by Shubha Raj Neupane, Chief of the Federal Road Supervision and Monitoring Office in Kathmandu.
