FNGSGJA Warns Business Owners of Potential Resale of Looted Gold and Silver

Kathmandu: The Federation of Nepal Gold Silver Gem and Jewellery Associations has issued a warning to entrepreneurs, urging them to exercise special caution in their business operations. The alert comes in the wake of a recent Gen-Z protest during which gold and silver were reportedly looted, with concerns that these items may be sold in the market.

According to National News Agency Nepal, Federation General-Secretary Nir Bahadur Bishwokarma highlighted the security risks following the escape of thousands of inmates from jails, which has led to an increase in robbery incidents. The Federation has emphasized the importance of careful business practices under these circumstances.

In its statement, the Federation advised entrepreneurs to meticulously verify identity cards and essential documents during trading. This measure aims to prevent the influx of stolen gold and silver jewelry into the market. Furthermore, the Federation recommended the installation of security systems such as CCTV cameras and alarms to safeguard valuable items. Business owners are also advised to restrict entry to unknown individuals and to promptly report any suspicious activities to the authorities.

The Federation underscored the importance of collaboration with local government and police to ensure safe business operations, particularly with upcoming festivals in mind. Entrepreneurs are encouraged to maintain close coordination with these entities to protect their businesses during this period of heightened risk.
