Life in Kathmandu Valley Returning to Normal with Cessation of Rainfall

Kathmandu: Life in the Kathmandu Valley, which had been disrupted by the incessant rains particularly on October 4, has started returning to normal following the cessation of rain on Sunday or October 5. The rainfall had begun here on Friday night.

According to National News Agency Nepal, roadways, traffic, business, and the people’s daily activities have largely returned to normal. Though the rains affected the road connectivity here, now all major roads are operational, said Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office Spokesperson and Superintendent of Police Naresh Raj Subedi.

People had faced difficulties for mobility during the rains. But, as the weather improves, people’s movement has increased in the market areas as they stepped out to purchase daily essentials.

According to traders, the flow of customers has increased in Asan, Indrachowk, New Road, Old Baneshwor, and the Gongabu areas. Sarita Thapa, who runs a fancy shop in Old Baneshwor, said, “It feels good to see sunshine after the incessant rains brought by the monsoon.”

However, the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology stated the country’s weather is still being influenced by the monsoon winds. The system is likely to cause generally cloudy conditions in Koshi, Lumbini, Karnali, and the Sudurpaschim Provinces and partially cloudy conditions in the remaining provinces.

Similarly, a few places in Koshi, Bagamati, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces, and the hilly and Terai regions of the remaining provinces are likely to experience moderate rains accompanied by thunder and lightning today. Tonight, there will be generally cloudy conditions in Koshi, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim Provinces and partially cloudy conditions in the remaining provinces. A few places in the hilly and Terai regions of Karnali and Sudurpaschim Provinces may experience moderate thundershowers.
