Kathmandu: Chief Justice Prakashman Singh Raut has pledged unwavering commitment to ensuring citizens’ rights to justice, despite recent disturbances in the judicial system.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Chief Justice Raut made this statement during a meeting with key legal figures, including the President of Nepal Bar Association, the Supreme Court Bar Association’s leadership, Attorney General Sabita Bhandari Baral, and other legal officials from the Kathmandu Valley. He assured that the Supreme Court will soon resume full operations once its information technology systems are restored.
Chief Justice Raut emphasized the importance of summoning a full bench of the Supreme Court for further discussions and promised that the outcomes of these deliberations would be made public.
The judicial system has faced significant challenges following the Gen-Z Movement on September 8 and 9, which resulted in considerable damage to the Supreme Court, Kathmandu District Court, and the High Court in Tulsipur. Currently, courts nationwide are only providing essential services.
Prof Dr Bijay Mishra, President of the Nepal Bar Association, expressed the association’s willingness to assist the court in recovering files and reiterated the necessity for the courts to return to regular operations.
