TU’s 51st Convocation: 16,380 Students Awarded with Degrees


Kathmandu: The 51st convocation ceremony of Tribhuvan University (TU) concluded in Kathmandu on Thursday. A total of 16,380 students among 89,591 pass-out students were awarded educational degrees ranging from Bachelor to PhD during the ceremony.



According to National News Agency Nepal, 11,234 graduates received Bachelor’s degrees, 14 received post-graduate degrees, 4,860 were awarded Master’s degrees, 130 attained MPhil degrees, and 152 received PhD degrees. Additionally, 22 students with the highest results in different faculties were honored with convocation medals.



Prime Minister and University’s Chancellor Sushila Karki, in her address, encouraged the graduates to integrate knowledge with service, skills with integrity, and success with societal contribution. She emphasized the importance of utilizing classroom knowledge for human development.



The chief guest, Nobel laureate in Physics Dr. Takaaki Kajita, spoke about the significance of perseverance in research and life. He highlighted that success often requires a strong will, continuous effort, and the belief in the meaningfulness of one’s work, even when immediate results are not visible. Kajita urged the graduates to contribute to society by embodying qualities such as resilience, compassion, and humility.



Minister for Education, Science, and Technology and TU Pro-Chancellor Mahabir Pun noted the importance of individual skills over academic qualifications. He encouraged the graduates to apply their knowledge to combat poverty and foster economic development, drawing inspiration from Dr. Kajita’s achievements.



TU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr. Deepak Aryal remarked that the convocation marks the beginning of a bright future for the graduates and underscored the necessity of hard work and dedication in unlocking opportunities.
