Manav Ashram Jhapa Rescues 121 Street People in Mechinagar Municipality


Jhapa: The Manav Ashram Jhapa branch, located in Mechinagar Municipality-4, Bahundangi, has successfully rescued 121 individuals living on the streets over the past year.



According to National News Agency Nepal, this branch of the ashram has focused on rescuing individuals facing harsh conditions in public spaces, providing them with necessary care and treatment, and working towards reuniting them with their families. Khagendra Biswokarma, the branch coordinator, shared insights about the ashram’s operations, highlighting its commitment to social service.



The Jhapa branch, officially inaugurated on December 8, 2024, marks the 17th branch of the ashram network. The annual report of the branch reveals an operational expenditure of Rs 5.48 million for the year. The ashram managed to generate Rs 5.46 million as service income and Rs 3.26 million as capital income during this period, reflecting its financial management and sustainability.



The total assets of the branch amount to Rs 22.67 million, with a revolving fund of Rs 252,880, cash holdings of Rs 21,189, and a bank balance of Rs 927,113. The ashram’s infrastructure includes its own building in Mechinagar-4, situated on land spanning two bigha five kattha, generously donated by local social worker Ram Bahadur Pradhan’s family.



Among the rescued individuals, the branch has successfully reunited 30 people with their families. Currently, the Jhapa branch is providing shelter and protection to 72 dependents, continuing its mission to support those in need.
