Bagmati Province Government’s Capital Expenditure Falls Short at Nine Percent


Kathmandu: The Bagmati province government has reported a capital expenditure of only 8.99 percent during the first half of the current fiscal year 2082/83.



According to National News Agency Nepal, the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Planning disclosed that the provincial government utilized approximately 14.10 percent of its total budget from Shrawan to Poush in the ongoing fiscal year. This represents a decrease of 2.17 percent compared to the previous fiscal year 2081/82, during which 16.27 percent of the budget was expended in the same period.



Keshab Bhandari, an officer at the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Planning, stated that during the first six months of the current fiscal year 2082/83, the government allocated 22.48 percent of its budget for recurrent expenditure, while only 8.99 percent was directed towards capital expenditure. The total budget for the fiscal year 2082/83 stands at Rs 67.4 billion, with Rs 9.58 billion spent so far.



Among various government bodies, the Public Service Commission recorded the highest expenditure at 36.35 percent, followed by the Office of the Chief Attorney at 30.80 percent, and the Provincial Assembly Secretariat at 29.35 percent.
