A court here today sentenced a man to life-term imprisonment for keeping illegal drugs.
Joypurhat Special Tribunal Court-5, judge Md Abbas Uddin pronounced the verdict this afternoon in the absence of the accused – Tarek Akand, 30, son of Enamul Akand, a resident of Ratanpur Sarkarpara village of Panchbibi upazila of the district.
On April 13, 2012, Detective Police (DB) arrested Tarek along with 30 bottles of Phensidyl from in the Puranapail Rail Gate area under Sadar upazila.
Police filed a case under Narcotics Control Act with Joypurhat Sadar Police Station.
Later, police submitted charge-sheet against him on June 3, 2012.
