SC upholds order to demolish ‘Gulshan Shopping Center’

DHAKA, The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court (SC) today upheld the order of the High Court to demolish “Gulshan Shopping Center” located in Gulshan-1 of the capital within 30 days. The Appellate Division led by Chief Justice Obaidul Hasan passed the order today. On 2021, the Directorate of Fire Services and Civil Defense declared the market risky due to dilapidated buildings and lack of fire-safety arrangements and wrote to the DNCC to take legal action on an urgent basis. On July 23 last year, Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) sealed it. At the same month, two companies– ‘Bani Chitra’ and ‘Chalacchitra’– filed a writ in the High Court seeking directions to demolish the mall due to public concerns. Source: Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha
