DHAKA, The general point-to-point inflation rate
increased slightly in October as it reached 9.93 percent up from 9.63 percent
in September, 2023 mainly due to the slight uptrend in both food and non-food
inflation.
The general point-to-point inflation rate in August, 2023 was 9.92 percent,
according to the latest data of the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS).
The BBS data showed that the food inflation increased to 12.56 percent in
October 2023 up from 12.37 percent in September.
On the other hand, the non-food inflation rate also increased to 8.30 percent
in October up from 7.82 percent in September.
The general point to point inflation rate both at the urban and rural level
areas also increased last month.
The point to point inflation in the rural areas in October was 9.99 percent
which was 9.75 percent in September.
On the other hand, the point to point inflation in the urban areas in October
was 9.72 percent which was 9.24 percent in September.
The annual average inflation from November 2022 to October 2023 notched 9.37
percent.
The wage rate index in October witnessed an uptrend with 7.69 percent which
was 7.64 percent in September.
