Kathmandu: The government has announced plans to celebrate this year’s Democracy Day over a span of three days. Scheduled to take place on March 18, 19, and 20, the celebration aims to honor the democratic spirit of the nation with a series of events and activities.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the decision was made during a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Sushila Karki. The meeting established a main organizing committee for the event, with the Prime Minister at its helm. The committee will include ministers, all mayors from the Kathmandu Valley, the Chief Secretary of the government, the Chief of Army Staff, secretaries from various government departments, and leaders from the nation’s security bodies. The Secretary of the Home Ministry will function as the member-secretary of this committee.
The government plans to conduct a variety of programs throughout the country over the course of the three-day celebration. In addition to domestic events, Nepal’s diplomatic missions abroad will also participate in the festivities, showcasing the country’s commitment to democracy on an international scale.
