Manebhanjyang Club from Darjeeling wins Oasis Gold Cup


The Manebhanjang Football Club from Darjeeling, India has won the first Oasis Women’s Gold Cup football tournament held in Ilam headquarters.

Manebhanjyang won the title by defeating Dipendrashikhar Football Club of Ilam by 3-0 goals in the final match held on Monday.

Manebhanjyang’s Simran Gurung scored the first goal in the 9th minute of the game to give the team the lead. In the 25th minute, Sushmita Lepcha doubled the lead. Later in the second half, in the 67th minute, Simran scored her second goal to give the team a 3-0 victory.

Along with the Gold Cup, Manebhanjyang won two hundred thousand rupees in cash while Dipendrashikhar had to settle for Rs.100,000. Manebhanjyang’s Simran Gurung was declared the best player of the final match. She received Rs 5,000 in cash.

Mayor of Ilam Kedar Thapa distributed prizes and certificates to the winner and runner-up teams and players.

A total of eight teams from Nepal and India participated in the tournament organized by Club Oasis Ilam from February 15.
