Kathmandu: Prime Minister Sushila Karki has emphasized the importance of national unity among all political forces in the country, irrespective of their ideological differences, to safeguard national interests. During a meeting with a delegation from the Nagarik Bachau Party on Friday, she highlighted the participation of 114 political parties in the upcoming elections and urged all to unite for the cause of national interests.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the Prime Minister underscored the beauty of democracy as allowing diversity in ideology and the opportunity to advocate for one’s beliefs. She stressed the necessity for all political entities to align on shared viewpoints regarding the elections and to approach the current situation with balance. The election, she noted, is a crucial opportunity for parties to present their ideologies to the populace and to strive for electoral success.
Prime Minister Karki assured that the government is fully prepared for the polls and encouraged confidence in their successful execution. She highlighted that security forces, including the Nepali Army, Armed Police Force, and Nepal Police, have been fully equipped for the election, with additional recruitment of a separate election force underway. She firmly stated that the elections scheduled for March 5 will proceed as planned, urging all parties to prepare accordingly.
Reiterating her commitment to holding the elections, the Prime Minister clarified that the government was specifically tasked with this responsibility upon its formation. She expressed surprise at the ongoing trend of nonconformity despite the significant losses faced by the nation and called for introspection among mainstream political parties.
Prime Minister Karki also addressed the current ideological conflicts within the country, urging for a resolution in a friendly manner while advocating for necessary corrections and reforms to move beyond outdated mentalities and interpretations. During the meeting, Chairman of the Nagarik Bachau Party Nepal, Madhav Kalpit, submitted a five-point demand to the Prime Minister on behalf of his party.
