Minister for Foreign Affairs, NP Saud, is leaving for Israel to bring back the Nepalis facing difficulty there in the wake of Hamas’ attack.
Minister Saud’s personal secretary Dipak Joshi informed that Minister Saud is leaving for Tel Aviv, capital city of Israel, to bring home the Nepalis who wish to come in view of the suffering caused by Hamas attack.
Ten Nepali students had died while some others got injured in the attack last Saturday.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs shared information that a Nepal Airline’s wide body jet with the capacity of 250 seats will fly for the rescue.
Ministry Spokesperson Sewa Lamsal said, “However, the Nepali Embassy in Israel will facilitate the return of the Nepalis with regular flights from Israel.”
Similarly, online registration system was put in place for those to get registered for safe relocation and Nepal return. So far, more than 350 Nepalis had got registered on it. Among them, 288 were willing to return home, Lamsal added.
Currently, there are 265 Nepali students engaged in ‘learn and earn programme’ in Israel. Among them, 129 are from Agriculture University, 97 from Tribhuvan University, and 49 from Sudurpaschim University. Among 49 from Sudurpaschim University, 17 students were at Kibuj Alumim, the southern belt of Israel.
Four students injured in the attack were receiving treatment. Government had request Israel government for providing treatment to the injured Nepalis.
“Ascertaining the whereabouts of missing one Bipin Joshi is in priority in coordination with Israel government,” Spokesperson Lamsal said, adding that some 4,500 Nepalis were engaged in various professions in Israel.
The Ministry has however made it clear that it would take time for now to bring the lifeless bodies of those killed in Hamas attack due to legal process of handover. The dead bodies were yet to go post mortem and handed over, so the flight heading to Israel this night would not be able to ferry the lifeless bodies, she added.
“The dead bodies are kept in safe place under protection of Israeli government. We are effortful to bring the dead ones as soon as possible. Once the handover the dead body is over in Israel, they would be brought to Nepal and handed over to related family,” Spokesperson shared.
