KATHMANDU: Deputy Speaker Indira Rana Magar has called for the systematic protection and archiving of Nepal’s rich art, culture, and history, emphasizing the state’s role in safeguarding these national treasures. Speaking at the inauguration of the Bottle Art Exhibition organized by the Nepal Academy of Fine Arts in Naxal, she highlighted the absence of structured records in the country and stressed the importance of state-led initiatives to preserve them.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Deputy Speaker Rana expressed her admiration for the innovative exhibition, which features depictions of Nepal’s heritage enclosed within bottles. She noted that such creative endeavors are rare globally, underscoring the unique nature of this artistic approach. “Making the paintings of Nepal’s beautiful history, art, culture, and heritages inside bottles is an exemplary work. I have never seen such art in other countries,” she stated. Rana also pointed out the potential of these preserved artworks to foster tourism and serve as educational tools for children.
Lal Kaji Lama, the Acting Chancellor of the Nepal Academy of Fine Arts, echoed these sentiments, highlighting the significance of presenting art history in such a novel format. Former Chancellor Kanchha Kumar Karmacharya further stressed the necessity of protecting these artistic expressions, marking the exhibition as a pioneering event where Nepali artists showcased their work inside bottles. The exhibition is set to run for a week, offering a unique glimpse into the nation’s artistic heritage.
