Regional Supervision and Review Workshop held in Jamalpur

Speakers at a Regional Supervision and Review

Workshop here today said the government is implementing various projects at

farmers’ level aiming to provide nutrition support to the people.

To produce healthy food and ensure nutrition, the government has taken an

integrated programme with its three departments -Agriculture, Livestock and

Fisheries, they said.

Under the programmes, farmers’ teams are being formed with the landless and

marginal farmers to make them ideal by providing skilled development training

and various incentives, the speakers added.

They said these while speaking at the workshop on Diversified Resilient

Agriculture for Improved Food and Nutrition Security (RAIN) under a sub

project of Smallholders Agriculture Competitiveness Project (SACP) at the

training room of Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) in the town.

Additional Director (In-charge) of the DAE, Mymensingh Region, Ms Salma

Akhtar adressed the workshop as the chief guest while Project Director of

SCAP-RAINS Dr
Muhammad Emdadul Haque was present as special guest.

Deputy Director of the DAE Zakia Sultana presided over the workshop while

Chief Scientific Officer of Regional Agriculture Research Institute Dr

Manjurul Kadir and District Fisheries Officer SM Khalekuzzaman spoke, among

others, at the workshop.

Upazila Agriculture Officers, Upazila Fisheries Officers, Upazila Livestock

Officers, Deputy Director of Bangladesh Agriculture Development Corporation,

Sub-Assistant Agriculture Officers, Farmers and members of Non-government

Organisations of the district took part in the workshop.
