Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury today said
the Awami League government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has ensured
gender equality and women empowerment in the country.
She said this when Sweden Ambassador to Dhaka Alexandra Berg Von Linde met
her at her official residence here.
The speaker said the women, who are in RMG sector, are playing a pivotal role
in the country’s economy.
Necessary steps should be taken to progress the women for the participatory
development as women are messengers of change, the speaker said.
She said Bangladesh Institute of Parliamentary Studies (BIPS) is a unit
established thorough act. Different activities, including meetings, seminars
and workshops, will be taken through the organisation, she added.
During the meeting, they discussed about women empowerment, budget session
and Rohingya issues.
Linde said the friendly relations between the two countries have passed
already 50 years.
She also praised the outstanding role of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in
w
omen development.
Senior officials were present in the meeting.
