UML General Secretary Advocates for Political Stability and Economic Growth

GHORAHI: The General Secretary of the CPN (UML), Shanker Pokhrel, emphasized the importance of political stability and economic development in Nepal, citing the collaboration between the UML and the Nepali Congress in forming the current government. Pokhrel highlighted these issues during a program organized by the UML Dang Publicity and Publications Department to honor newly-elected officials and members of the Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) Dang Chapter.

According to National News Agency Nepal, Pokhrel called for cooperation with the government, which he said is committed to improving the nation’s political stability, economic conditions, and governance. He criticized those making “unnecessary” comments about the government’s longevity, labeling such remarks as attempts to create anarchy. He urged the public to support the government constructively rather than merely criticize it.

Pokhrel addressed concerns about the challenges posed by political instability on the country’s development and economic sectors. He assured that with time, the positive impact of the government’s initiatives would become evident, as development projects have accelerated since its formation. Encouraging patience, he expressed confidence that the country’s economic situation would improve.

He also urged entrepreneurs to invest in the country, assuring them of the government’s support for industrialists and business leaders. Additionally, Pokhrel mentioned a six-member team working on governance reforms, signaling the government’s commitment to improving administrative efficiency.

During the event, FNJ Dang Chapter president Santosh Subedi, Publication Department Chief Sangeeta Basyal, and Press Chautari Dang president Prem Bahadur Ramja discussed the current political climate and the rights and interests of journalists, emphasizing the media’s role in supporting government efforts for national development.
