Very Heavy Rainfall Hits Tarai, Rautahat Records Highest Rainfall


Rautahat: Heavy to very heavy rainfall is now taking place at different places of the country.



According to National News Agency Nepal, very heavy rain is occurring in the districts of the Tarai, as reported by the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology. The highest 289 millimetres of rain was recorded at Mahespur and 259 millimetres at Gaur of Rautahat in the last 24 hours, as added by the Department.



Birgunj recorded 247 millimetres of rainfall, Parsa 231 millimetres, and Bara 222 millimetres. Information Officer of the Department, Dinakar Kayastha, reported 134 millimetres of rainfall in Makawanpur and 122 millimetres in Kavrepalanchowk. Similarly, different districts, including those in Kathmandu Valley, have recorded more than 50 millimetres of rain. Ten rain gauge stations have recorded rainfall crossing the danger level in Bara, Parsa, and Rautahat districts.



According to Flood Forecasting Division of the Department, the water levels in Kavre-Roshi, Manohara-Kathmandu, Bagmati-Kathmandu, and Lalbakaiya-Makawanpur have crossed the warning level and continue to rise. The Department has also requested everyone to adopt precautions, as almost all rivers and streams in Bagmati Province and Madhes Province have reached the warning level.
