GBV Cannot Be Reduced Just By Making Laws: Minister Sudi.


Kathmandu: Minister for Women, Children and Senior Citizens Nawal Kishor Sah Sudi has emphasized that enacting laws alone is insufficient to curb violence against women. To effectively address this issue, it is essential to foster societal equality.

According to National News Agency Nepal, Minister Sudi, while inaugurating the 16-day campaign against gender-based violence, stressed the importance of nurturing positive thinking and equality, achievable through sustained campaigns. The event was organized by the National Women’s Commission. Minister Sudi highlighted that empowering women is crucial for the country’s development and prosperity, and emphasized the need for active involvement from both the government and the public to prevent violence against women.

Chairperson of the Women’s Commission, Kamala Parajuli, stated that the Violence Against Women (VAW) campaign aims to raise public awareness about violence and discrimination within society. She noted that the nature and form of violence against wom
en have evolved over time, with women facing threats even from their own relatives.

Yoga Guru Ramesh Nepal, present at the event, remarked that violent actions stem from a distorted mentality. He suggested that such behavior can be eliminated through practices like meditation and yoga.
