Kuakata: Advisor to the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change and Water Resources Syeda Rizwana Hasan today emphasized on taking collective efforts to preserve the environment and reducing plastic pollution. ‘Extensive participation of youth is crucial to make the anti-polythene initiatives a success,’ she said while addressing a certificate giving ceremony to the volunteers involved in the campaign and cleanliness drive at Kuakata Sea Beach as the chief guest.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Syeda Rizwana Hasan highlighted the urgency of phasing out the use of polythene and polypropylene bags, advocating for sustainable alternatives to foster a healthier environment. She articulated that initiatives like these not only safeguard the environment but also play a pivotal role in raising mass awareness about plastic pollution.
Rizwana Hasan urged everyone to promote the use of environmentally friendly alternatives to polythene, emphasizing the importance of ensuring a clean and beautiful environment for future generations. She called for enhanced individual and community-level awareness to protect nature effectively.
The event saw the presence of Dr. Farhina Ahmed, Secretary to the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, attending as a special guest. Other notable attendees included Tapan Kumar Biswas, Additional Secretary (Pollution Control), and Dr. Md. Kamruzzaman, Director General of the Department of Environment.
During the program, Rizwana Hasan commended the volunteers who participated in the anti-polythene campaign and the Kuakata Sea Beach cleanliness drive. She later distributed certificates to over a hundred volunteers in recognition of their efforts.
