Kathmandu: Indian Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Bhupender Yadav, paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on Friday. During the meeting held at the Prime Minister’s residence in Baluwatar, Minister Yadav expressed his gratitude to PM Oli for extending an invitation to India for the Sagarmatha Sambaad event in Nepal. He emphasized the importance of prioritizing the safety of Sagarmatha, often referred to as the roof of the world.
According to National News Agency Nepal, PM Oli reciprocated the gratitude by acknowledging Minister Yadav’s participation and his insightful speech during the inaugural session of the dialogue. PM Oli further proposed the idea of organizing similar events at a regional level, involving countries like Nepal, India, and Bangladesh, focusing on critical issues such as the safety of the Himalayas and the environmental impact of agricultural practices like crop residue burning.
The meeting also saw the presence of Indian Ambassador to Nepal, Naveen Srivastava, along with the chief advisor to the Prime Minister, Bishnu Prasad Rimal, and economic development advisor, Dr. Yuvraj Khatiwada, as well as officials from the Foreign Ministry.
