Kathmandu: Chairman of CPN (Maoist Centre) Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has criticized the government for its role in delaying the passage of the School Education Bill. During an interaction program with students organized by the ANNISU (Revolutionary) in Kathmandu, Prachanda attributed the delay to the ruling alliance parties, CPN (UML) and the Nepali Congress.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Prachanda, who is also a former Prime Minister, emphasized that the ongoing issues within the education sector could be addressed if the School Education Bill were enacted by parliament and if the recommendations of the High-Level Education Reform Commission were implemented. He stressed the foundational importance of education, stating, “Education is also the infrastructure of infrastructures. Other areas cannot be improved without improving education. Now, I have said that another peaceful revolution is needed.”
Prachanda called for collective commitment to induce significant changes in the education sector. He underscored that passing the School Education Bill would resolve numerous issues, urging for its immediate adoption. Additionally, he highlighted the importance of integrating education with skills and employment and insisted that the state should assume responsibility for education.
Expressing his disappointment, Prachanda noted the irony in the lack of progress in the education sector and acknowledged that the intended reformative education policy has not been implemented as anticipated.
