Cabinet Decisions: ID Card for Families of Gen-Z Martyrs and Gen Z Day on Bhadra 23


Kathmandu: The government has announced a significant decision to issue identity cards with photographs to the families of martyrs from the Gen Z protest. These identity cards will be provided to the mother, father, husband, wife, unmarried son, and daughter of the martyrs.



According to National News Agency Nepal, the decision was made during a cabinet meeting held at Singha Durbar, as shared by the government spokesperson and Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Jagadish Kharel. Additionally, the cabinet has declared that Gen Z Martyr Day will be observed annually on Bhadra 23.



Furthermore, the government has mandated the use of financial institutions or banking channels for buying and selling services, goods, or conducting other transactions exceeding Rs 500,000, effective from January 15. This move aims to enhance financial transparency and regulation.



In another decision, the government has committed to providing financial aid of 200,000 US dollars to Sri Lanka, which has been severely affected by massive floods and landslides, resulting in extensive damage.



Other notable appointments include Prof Gyan Bahadur Thapa as the Secretary of the University Grants Commission and Dr Kumar Sharma Acharya as the Chairperson of the Press Council Nepal. The government has also approved the Carbon Trading Regulation, 2082, highlighting its commitment to addressing environmental concerns.



Lastly, Joint Secretary Baikuntha Prasad Aryal has been promoted to the position of Secretary, as confirmed by Minister Kharel.
