Dhaka: Chief Adviser Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus is preparing to depart for Davos, Switzerland, on a four-day official visit to participate in the annual World Economic Forum (WEF) meeting starting January 21. “The chief adviser will leave Bangladesh at 1:00 am on Tuesday (Jan 21) and he will return home on January 25,” Chief Adviser’s Deputy Press Secretary Abul Kalam Azad Majumder announced during a press briefing at the Foreign Service Academy yesterday (Jan 19).

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, during the visit, the Chief Adviser is scheduled to engage in bilateral talks with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, Finland President Alexander Stubb, King Philippe of Belgium, and Thailand Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra. Additionally, the Chief Adviser plans to meet with prominent figures such as Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, daughter of the Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates, Christine Lagarde, President of the European Central Bank, Sir Nick Clegg, President of Global Affairs at Meta, Dr. AgnSs Callamard, Secretary General at Amnesty International, and Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Director General of the World Trade Organisation.

Furthermore, a separate dialogue focusing on Bangladesh will be held at the World Economic Forum, where global business leaders and CEOs from various international organizations are expected to participate. This dialogue presents a significant opportunity for Bangladesh to engage at such a prestigious event for the first time.

Azad highlighted that the interim government anticipates the dialogue will play a vital role in attracting global investment to Bangladesh, marking a significant step forward for the country’s economic engagement on the international stage.
