Kathmandu: Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Prithvi Subba Gurung, emphasized the critical need for enhancing digital literacy to achieve the objectives set out in the digital framework. Speaking at a program organized by the Computer Association of Nepal (CAN) Federation on ‘Multi-stakeholder Discussion on Digital Nepal Framework 2.0 and Way Forward,’ Minister Gurung acknowledged that while the Nagarik Apps are operational, the adoption and skill level among users remain inadequate. “Digital literacy is imperative to materialize the Digital Nepal Framework. So, literacy programmes need to be taken together,” he stressed.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Minister Gurung, who also serves as the government spokesperson, stated that it is the government’s duty to establish digital infrastructure and necessary policies. He noted that the government has developed the Digital Nepal Framework 2.0 (DNF 2.0) in alignment with the 16th periodic plan, focusing on enhancing connectivity, technical skills, data integration, and cybersecurity.
Ministry Secretary Radhika Aryal mentioned that DNF 2.0 was formulated based on the experiences from the initial framework and invited suggestions from the private sector to refine it further.
CAN Federation’s Chairperson Sunaina Ghimire Pande highlighted the importance of increasing financial investment alongside policy development in this digital age to support the sector’s growth.
