Kathmandu: Deputy Prime Minister and Urban Development Minister Prakash Man Singh has emphasized that prevention is better than cure. At the foundation stone laying ceremony for the second phase of the Nepal-Korea Friendship Municipal Hospital, Minister Singh highlighted the importance of a healthy lifestyle.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the hospital, managed by the Madhyapur Thimi Municipality, is expanding with financial backing from the South Korean government. Member of the House of Representatives Durlabh Thapa underscored the need for the hospital to evolve into a facility capable of treating patients from across the country, not just Bhaktapur.
South Korean Ambassador to Nepal, Taeyong Park, acknowledged the ongoing support from the Korean government for Nepal’s health sector, noting the continuous assistance since the hospital’s establishment. The Korean government has significantly contributed 9.5 million US dollars for the construction, along with providing expert doctors at its own ex
pense.
Surendra Shrestha, the city’s mayor and program chairman, stated that the new facility-equipped building, supported by the Korean government, will enhance treatment services. Deputy Mayor Bijaya Krishna Shrestha remarked that South Korea’s assistance is a testament to the enduring friendship between the two nations.
Dr. D K Raushan, the hospital’s executive director, outlined the current services and future expansions planned for the hospital. He noted that the new building is expected to be completed within two years, facilitating service expansion.
