Kathmandu: Ambassadors of EU member countries in Kathmandu, along with Non-Resident Ambassadors and Heads of Mission based in New Delhi to Nepal, met with Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Arzu Rana Deuba today. During the meeting held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA), discussions focused on strengthening relations between Nepal and the European Union, promoting mutual interests, and addressing common concerns, including climate change.
According to National News Agency RSS, Dr Rana expressed gratitude for the ongoing support from the European Union and its member countries in Nepal’s economic and social sectors. She also acknowledged their participation in the “Sagarmatha Sambad” held in Kathmandu from May 16 to 18. Dr Rana urged EU member countries to support Nepal’s climate change initiatives and advocacy for climate justice at international forums.
Dr Rana further encouraged the EU member countries to motivate their private sectors to invest in Nepal in areas such as tourism, agriculture, infrastructure construction, and information technology. She sought assistance in Nepal’s efforts to transition from a Least Developed Country to a developing nation by 2026.
The meetings were attended by 20 heads of mission, EU ambassadors, and representatives from EU member states in Kathmandu and New Delhi, as stated by the Ministry in a press release issued this afternoon.
