Kathmandu: The government has established a committee to streamline the distribution of medicines produced by Nepal Aushadhi Limited to state-owned health facilities.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Health and Population Minister Pradip Paudel initiated the formation of the committee following complaints that certain drugs, including Citamol, Jivan Jal, and other medicines manufactured by the Limited, were not being adequately distributed. Minister Paudel’s secretariat confirmed that the decision was made to address these supply chain issues.
Minister Paudel held discussions with officials from the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies, and Nepal Aushadhi Limited to ensure the effective distribution of the Limited’s medicines across all governmental levels. Following these discussions, a committee was formed. This committee is led by the Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies and includes representatives from the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration, and the Limited.
The Health Ministry’s spokesperson, Dr. Prakash Budhathoki, stated that concrete decisions regarding the distribution issues will be made based on the committee’s recommendations. Previously, Minister Paudel emphasized the importance of providing medicines to citizens at concessional prices and urged the Limited to ensure regular production of essential drugs.
