Home Minister Transfers Emergency Warehouse to Koshi Province


Biratnagar: Minister for Home Affairs Ramesh Lekhak officially handed over the Provincial Emergency Warehouse to the Koshi Province Government today. The warehouse is strategically located on the premises of the Integrated Customs Check Post in Rani, Biratnagar, marking a significant step in disaster preparedness for the region.



According to National News Agency Nepal, Home Minister Lekhak highlighted the importance of geography in assessing disaster risks and urged security forces to remain vigilant in mitigating potential damages. He noted that emergency warehouses like this have been established across all seven provinces, underscoring their role in strengthening federal practices. The minister expressed confidence that the resources stored in these warehouses would provide timely relief during emergencies and advocated for the construction of similar facilities at the municipal level.



Furthermore, Minister Lekhak pointed out the government’s commitment to legal and policy reform, stating that the current administration has fostered hope and stability among the populace through good governance.



Chief Minister of Koshi Province, Hikmat Kumar Karki, remarked on the gradual devolution of powers from the federal to the provincial government, citing significant achievements in the transportation sector. He stressed the provincial government’s dedication to disaster rescue and mitigation efforts, aiming to ensure public safety.



Rewati Raman Bhandari, the Minister for Internal Affairs and Law of the province, expressed confidence that the newly acquired materials for the emergency warehouse would enhance their capacity to respond to disasters promptly. Dinesh Bhatta, Head of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority, also shared his insights during the event.



The formal handover was completed with the signing of the relevant documents by Chief Minister Karki and Home Minister Lekhak.
