Kathmandu: Parliamentarians have drawn the government’s attention to contemporary issues and budget priorities for the upcoming fiscal year. In today’s meeting of the House of Representatives, Dhruba Bahadur Pradhan expressed objections to the language used by a lawmaker, which he claimed insulted the Newar community by referencing Jog Meher Shrestha in a previous session.
According to National News Agency RSS, Sher Bahadur Kunwar highlighted the need to address delays in disaster relief for affected individuals, such as earthquake victims. Meanwhile, Ranju Kumari Jha called for the establishment of a social security allowance based on contributions. Rekha Yadav raised concerns about the limited distribution of identity cards to farmers, pointing out that only 1.9 million farmers have received them. She also criticized the 24.39 percent customs charge on organic fertilizer imports.

The MPs also raised concerns about the MP Development Fund in the House, with Rajenra Kumar KC urging the Ministry of Finance to avoid discrediting parliamentarians by directly allocating funds under this initiative. He suggested involving MPs in planning for their constituencies instead.
Further, Surya Prasad Dhakal advocated for budgetary measures to engage Nepalese youth in local production rather than overseas employment, emphasizing the need for self-reliance in agriculture. Ramkrishna Yadav stressed the importance of improving government performance to meet citizen expectations, enhancing the capacity of Parliament and MPs, and discouraging middlemen in the agricultural sector. He also urged the government to maintain budget allocations for alternative highways and expedite infrastructure projects by working at night.
