Kathmandu: President Ramchandra Paudel has emphasized the significant responsibility of the realm of law and justice in building a just society within the federal democratic republic governance system. This statement was made during a special programme organized to mark Law Day, 2082.
According to National News Agency Nepal, President Paudel highlighted that the constitution supports a federal democratic republic system, which includes the freedom of citizens, fundamental rights, human rights, and an independent, impartial, and competent judiciary. He expressed the belief that Law Day serves as a reminder to all those involved in the field of justice and law to remain committed to their responsibilities.
President Paudel noted the importance of this Day in the justice and law sector, pointing out that the practical administration of justice based on the concept of separation of powers and an independent judiciary began with the implementation of the Chief Justice Act 2008 BS. This was a significant shift from when the state’s executive, legislative, and judicial powers were concentrated within a single body.
He further stressed the need to provide justice in an accessible and efficient manner by harnessing modern processes and technology. This would involve creating new laws and reforming existing ones to align with the sentiments of the constitution and current needs.
President Paudel concluded by expressing his hope that Law Day would foster positive thinking and inspire increased public trust in the judiciary.
