Kathmandu: Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Kulman Ghising, has instructed officials to make the electricity system more reliable, safe, and customer-friendly. He emphasized the need to address the public’s demands through short-term, mid-term, and long-term policies and programs, as complaints about power supply issues are being received from various parts of the country.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Minister Ghising highlighted the importance of resuming power supply by promptly repairing and maintaining structures damaged by recent floods and landslides. He stressed that there should be no delay in implementing policies and programs to fully operationalize transmission lines and substations. Special attention should be given to the construction of the 220 kV Hetauda-Dhalkebar transmission line under the Marsyangdi corridor and managing electricity for the upcoming winter season.
During his inspection of the electricity center in Syuchatar, Kathmandu, Minister Ghising gathered information on various aspects of the electricity system, including generation, transmission, and distribution across the country. He also reviewed grid operations, electricity demand and supply management, electricity export, and projects affected by floods and landslides.
NEA Executive Director Manoj Silwal briefed Minister Ghising on the current status of electricity generation, demand, supply, export, and system operation. He assured the Minister of the NEA’s commitment to efficiently managing electricity and addressing the needs of the general public. Silwal also stated that the NEA family is dedicated to repairing flood and landslide-damaged structures and resuming electricity services. The organization will utilize its resources economically and effectively to resolve public and user issues.
