Colombo: Nepal has become the first runner-up in the inaugural Blind Women’s T20 World Cup, succumbing to India in the final match held in Colombo, Sri Lanka. India successfully chased the 115-run target set by Nepal, achieving victory in just 12 overs.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Nepal was invited to bat first after losing the toss, managing to score 114 runs for the loss of five wickets in their allotted 20 overs. India, in response, secured the win by gathering 117 runs while losing only three wickets. Notably, India’s Phula Soren contributed significantly with 44 runs off 27 balls, while Sarita Ghimire of Nepal scored 35 runs from 38 balls.
The championship featured participation from teams representing Nepal, India, Australia, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and America. A distinctive feature of this cricket format is the use of a plastic white ball with bearings inside, aiding batters in tracking the ball’s movement. Each team fields 11 players, with a requirement that four players must be completely blind.
