Kathmandu: President Ramchandra Paudel has said that the art, culture and tradition of the Muslim community have its own uniqueness in Nepal with multi-ethnic, multi-lingual, multi-religious and multi-cultural characteristics. He expressed this view while extending best wishes to those who are leaving for Hajj pilgrimage this year to Mecca, during a welcoming ceremony organized at the President House, Shital Niwas this morning.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the President emphasized the importance of unity and collaboration among Nepal’s diverse ethnicities, communities, languages, and cultures. He highlighted how such unity is crucial for preserving and enhancing the country’s rich cultural fabric and strengthening national unity. The President expressed his hope that the Hajj pilgrimage would contribute to increasing brotherhood, friendship, and goodwill among Nepalese citizens.
The President also acknowledged the historical significance of the Muslim community’s contributions to the formation of the Nepalese state. He urged relevant authorities to ensure that pilgrims receive all necessary facilities for a convenient journey, emphasizing the importance of formulating timely policies and provisions to organize the pilgrimage effectively.
During the ceremony, President Paudel personally extended his wishes to the pilgrims by handing them a scarf and the Nepali cap. The Acting Chairperson of the Muslim Commission, Mohamuddin Miyan, noted the historic significance of the President personally bidding farewell to the pilgrims, marking the first time such an event took place at the President’s residence.
