Truck Carrying Cement Plunges into Myagdi River, Driver Rescued

Myagdi: A truck transporting cement, registered as Ga 2 Kha 0840, from Bhairahawa to Darwang, plunged 60 meters below the road into the Myagdi River at Phaparkhet. The incident occurred at approximately 2:30 this morning, resulting in the rescue of the driver, Govinda Bahadur Khamcha, 34, from Madanpokhara, Tansen Municipality-8, Palpa.

According to National News Agency Nepal, security personnel successfully rescued Khamcha, who had fallen into the Myagdi River with his truck in Phaparkhet. The location is situated on the border of Beni Municipality-4 and Mangala Rural Municipality-2 along the Beni-Darwang road, as stated by Police Inspector Sagar Timilsina.

Khamcha sustained injuries in the incident and is currently receiving treatment at the Provincial Hospital in Beni. His condition is reported to be stable. Police sources revealed that the truck was carrying 340 sacks of cement, with some falling into the river and others remaining stuck on the cliff below the road.

The Phaparkhet section of the Beni-Darwang road, which connects Mangala, Malika, and Dhawalagiri rural municipalities with the district headquarters Beni Bazaar, has experienced repeated blockages due to landslides during the rainy season. Notably, a similar incident involving a cement-laden truck occurred at the same location in late October last year.
