Dahal Rules Out Possibility of Restoration of Monarchy

Gorkha: Chairperson of CPN (Maoist Centre), Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, has dismissed the possibility of restoring the monarchy in the country. In a recent event, Dahal firmly stated that Nepal’s citizens would not accept a monarchical system in the current era.

According to National News Agency Nepal, Dahal made these remarks while inaugurating a newly constructed administrative building in Bhimsen Thapa rural municipality. He referred to a movement reportedly planned by pro-monarchists from May 29 and emphasized that the federal republic system, achieved through significant struggles and sacrifices, is irreversible. Dahal expressed his confidence that any demonstrations by pro-monarchist groups would not succeed.

Dahal, the former Prime Minister and a leader of the major opposition party, cautioned the government against actions that could heighten public frustration. He asserted that Nepal has witnessed quality development since transitioning to a federal democratic republic and stressed the need to further reinforce this system.

Highlighting the historic relationship between the Nepali Congress and the CPN (Maoist Centre) in achieving peace, the establishment of the Constitutional Assembly, and the federal republic, Dahal called for collaboration between the two parties to ensure lasting peace. He acknowledged the ideological differences between the parties but insisted that cooperation is essential for sustaining peace in Nepal.
