Kathmandu: The National Vigilance Centre (NVC) has submitted its annual report for the fiscal year 2023/24 to Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli. NVC Secretary Saraju Kumar Baidya presented the report at a programme held at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers in Singha Durbar.
According to National News Agency Nepal, during the presentation, Prime Minister Oli instructed the NVC to enhance its effectiveness as the current government is committed to achieving good governance and development. He highlighted the importance of the NVC, which operates under the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, to be proactive in regular reporting and adhering to directives. Oli underscored that corruption poses a significant challenge to development and good governance, urging all parties involved to diligently perform their duties in combating it.
The report reveals that the NVC has been engaged in regulation and monitoring, including surprise inspections, to ensure effective service delivery from public bodies. This initiative aims to eradicate corruption and uphold good governance in line with the objectives of the 16th plan. In instances where irregularities are detected during monitoring, the NVC communicates with the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority to initiate appropriate actions.
The event was attended by high-ranking officials, including the Chief Secretary of the Government of Nepal, Eak Narayan Aryal.
