Janakpurdham: Chief Minister of Madhes Province, Satish Kumar Singh, has emphasized the urgent need to finalize the adjustment process of police and civil servants in the province to bolster the framework of federalism. The announcement was made during an interaction on strengthening federalism, organized by elected members of the National Assembly from Madhes Province.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Chief Minister Singh highlighted the complications arising from the delay in adjustments, which have hindered the efficient allocation of development funds. He pointed out that the inability to utilize the budget effectively is due to the absence of necessary personnel. The Chief Minister advocated for the promotion of 11th-level officers to the secretary post and proposed that chief administrative officers at local levels should operate under the jurisdiction of the provincial government.
Citing a precedent during KP Sharma Oli’s premiership, where all secretaries were deployed to provinces via the Chief Minister’s office, Singh suggested a similar system should be applied to administrative officers designated for local levels in Madhes Province. He also expressed concern over the inadequate quota of chemical fertilizers allocated to Madhes Province, despite a significant demand for fertilizers and seeds.
The Chief Minister further argued for budget allocation to be based on population metrics, ensuring resources meet the needs of the province’s inhabitants.
