Kathmandu: The Supreme Court has issued an interim order directing the government to refrain from immediately implementing its decision to suspend the issuance of No Objection Certificates (NOC) for students planning to study in South Korea.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the order was issued by a single bench of Justice Sunil Pokharel. It highlights that the suspension of the NOC for students who have completed the necessary procedures and obtained scholarships could result in irreparable harm. Therefore, the court ruled that the suspension should not be enforced until a final decision is reached on the writ petition.
The interim order was delivered during a preliminary hearing on a writ petition filed by student Eliza Pandey and others, challenging the government’s decision. The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology was listed as the defendant in the case.
The court’s order also requires the government to provide a written response, along with justifications for its decision, within 15 days.
