Birth centenary of Shaheed AHM Kamaruzzaman,
one of the four national leaders, was observed here in a befitting manner
today (Monday) paying rich tribute to him.
City unit of Bangladesh Awami League observed the late leader’s birth
centenary through daylong elaborate programmes.
The day’s programmes began with hoisting of national and party flags at the
city unit party office with sunrises.
Quran Khawni, milad mahfil and special prayers were arranged at the residence
of AHM Khairuzzaman Liton, eldest son of Shaheed Kamaruzzaman, at Upashahar
in the city at 9am.
Party leaders and workers placed wreaths on the grave of Shaheed Kamaruzzaman
at Kadirganj graveyard paying rich tribute to the late leader at 11am.
Newly-elected mayor of Rajshahi City Corporation AHM Khairuzzaman Liton
accompanied by scores of party leaders and other dignitaries placed wreaths
on the grave of Shaheed Kamaruzzaman and offered prayers there.
Feeding of destitute was held at Shaheed Kamaruzzaman crossing at 12noon in
addition to offering special prayers after Johr prayers.
A discussion meeting has been arranged at Rajshahi Medical College auditorium
highlighting life and works along with the supreme sacrifice of the national
leader.
A cultural function has also been arranged at Lalon Shah open stage.
Besides, Rajshahi City Corporation has also observed the birth centenary
through a daylong programme in a befitting manner.
